RENDEZ VOUS & OTHER STORIES
“This film was an opportunity for me to creatively confront the cliché portrayal of female characters within the fashion genre. It’s a playful story with darkness underneath which gives this satirical take its edge” Jeanne Damas.
& Other Stories continue to unite and empower young female talent with the making of their first-ever fictional film; Rendez-vous & Other Stories. Written and directed by Wendy McColm featuring french actress and blogger Jeanne Damas, this fun and humouristic short fictional film merges fashion and fiction while guiding us through & Other Stories Parisian boheme inspired Summer collection.
A satirical take on a conventional film confronting beauty and intelligence, created in collaboration between two confident, strong and creative women. As Wendy comments: I wanted to create a piece that was personal and removed from the common idea of “fashion film” or a hyper sexual representation of Jeanne’s persona. I believe it’s important to speak if you have a voice. Jeanne definitely does. She was lovely.
In “Rendez-vous & Other Stories”, the tormented soul of the self-indulgent ‘Bohemian’ is portrayed humorously as Jeanne can’t decide which clothes from & Other Stories’ collection to wear. But the beneath the script lies a darker subtext that points to the changes that need to be made to the way in which women are portrayed both in, and by the fashion industry.
