THINKING OUT LOUD: WALK-IN BUFFET
Breakfast invitations, for me the most alarming invites out there. In particular the buffet, this is the worst one of all. The famous buffets, where the possibilities are endless and ´the urge of having it all´ takes over. Causing this very moment where hours of personal self-motivation, that today is the day that I start paying attention again, (#TTD/Time to detox) is flushing down the drain. There are dozens of possibilities to mix and match on the table with no end in sight. And before you know there is again an addition of the buffet with all new sorts of temptations! Therefore I taught myself to avoid buffet – events, because the urge of having it all is not ‘to be tamed’.
This specific feeling I can compare to the experience I have when I wake up. Punctual, every morning, I receive a personal buffet invitation. My very own walk-in buffet that is being freshly served and everything is provided. Sadly, to avoid my closet is not a possibility and the urge of adding new pieces to this walk–in buffet is my obesity. It is miraculous that I don’t ‘weigh’ a thousand of layers just yet.
I surrender. I’m tired of losing my snoozing time in the morning with the question; what to wear? It is time to take control and clear out the chaos of thousand possibilities every morning. Karl Lagerfeld said: “Dieting is the only game where you win when you lose.” Well dear Karl I’m sorry, but in this situation ‘losing’ my clothing by throwing them away is impossible. I’m more of an “I-keep-everything-person”.
Looking at the enormous walk-in buffet I think all the time, there has to be a way where choosing every morning ‘what to wear’ can be so much faster. Without disappointing myself again when I come too late at work or without disappointing my dear clothing by forgetting them, when there was the perfect occasion to give them some outside time.
Why not a structured way to make it all easier? When I have a real invite to an enormous buffet breakfast then I choose what I’m going to eat depending on my mood. ‘Extremely hungry?’ forget the before course just grab the biggest plate and go wild. Or is it time to watch out? Walk easily to the salad section and make yourself proud. This way of choosing is the same for finding out what to wear (really!).
A mood–structured buffet (uhh what??) / closet. Where all the clothing is structured in order to how I can feel. This gives me the perfect outfit everyday. Because is it not, when you look good, you feel good? (I am convinced of it). And I look good when my mood is in line with my outfit. Clothing tells a lot without using words. They are the reflections of your mood.
I divided my personal buffet depending on the main category of the food on the table! Such as fish, meat or vegan, cold or warm and light or greasy dishes. Translated to my various moods (ka’chinggg) for the perfect structure of my closet. Easy no?
Am I in the mood for fish? Then that describes my mood as: wise and fruitful.
